Over 100,000 advertisers makes ChatGPT Ads worth paying attention to, but the number I'd really like to see is how many came back to spend again. OpenAI says they have run campaigns since launch. That is a meaningful adoption figure, not a retention figure or evidence of a better CPA.

The expansion is useful because more businesses can now consider the channel. OpenAI's pitch about reaching people while they explore, compare and decide sounds commercially promising. But how close are those conversations to an actual purchase? Someone exploring their options could become a valuable customer, or need considerably more time before buying. There is potential here, but conversational interest alone is not enough to promise stronger CVR.

For an eligible business, I'd start with a market where the offer and landing page already sell well, rather than combine a new advertising platform with an unfamiliar country. That gives the test fewer moving parts. I'd follow the traffic and results through analytics tools or advanced CRM reporting, allowing for conversion lag. More enquiries would be encouraging, but if they never become quality leads and sales, what has the extra spend actually bought?

With budgets and sales targets already under pressure, getting onto the next platform early is not enough of a reason to fund it. ChatGPT Ads is worth considering for a controlled test. Any extra budget still needs to earn its place through results.

Questions people ask

How many countries is ChatGPT Ads available in?

OpenAI announced advertiser availability in 89 countries on 21 October 2026, following an expansion to 26 additional countries. This describes advertiser access, not guaranteed ad exposure to every ChatGPT user in those markets.

Can my business advertise on ChatGPT through Ads Manager?

Self service eligibility depends on the country of the legal entity advertising and being billed. Creating an account does not bypass country restrictions. Ads require review before serving, and account verification, billing, campaign budgets and end dates can also prevent delivery.

Which ChatGPT plans show ads to users?

Ads may appear on ChatGPT Free and Go, with user rollout remaining gradual. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu remain free of ads. Accounts identified as belonging to people under 18 are excluded.
