Personal Take, John IliopoulosA shareholder premium is not an advertiser benefit. Perion's agreement with Affle is worth watching, but the useful question for anyone buying through the business is whether service, commercial terms or campaign performance will change. Perion expects completion in early 2027, subject to required approvals and closing conditions. The agreement itself is not evidence that anything has already changed in an advertiser's account.
PPC Land's reported $420 million equity value and 34.5% premium make the headline, although those terms remain unverified here. A larger group could bring investment and a stronger product. It could also bring integration work that customers end up dealing with. I'd ask about planned changes to contracts, reporting and support, rather than try to read advertiser value into the purchase price. Spend still needs to earn its place through quality leads and sales at an acceptable CPA, whoever owns the supplier.
The Toast report is a separate issue, and the unverified lawsuit is not a basis for judging the company's conduct. It does bring up a familiar commercial problem, though. An attractive advertised price can generate enquiries, but what happens when customers see the full amount they will have to pay? A cheaper CPL would not excite me if analytics tools or advanced CRM reporting showed more people dropping out once the charges became clear. Getting the enquiry is only part of the job.
The AI checkout claim needs a much cleaner distinction between activity and sales. Reaching checkout is useful progress, but it is not a completed order. Microsoft's documented Brand agents assist visitors on a website; that is different from agents independently navigating it. I like the prospect of helping customers get through a purchase more easily. But the reported comparison has not been verified, and even a genuine increase in checkout activity would still need to translate into more completed orders. Interesting enough to investigate, not enough to change a media budget.
Questions people ask
Has Affle completed its acquisition of Perion?
Perion's announcement confirms a definitive merger agreement, not a completed acquisition. Closing is expected in early 2027, subject to required approvals and closing conditions. PPC Land reports a $420 million equity value, but that figure has not been independently verified in the official sources reviewed.
Is the FTC suing Toast over hidden fees?
PPC Land reports that the FTC and eight states sued Toast over alleged hidden fees. The filing has not been independently verified here. That does not establish that no case exists, and the allegations should not be treated as proven wrongdoing.
Does Microsoft Clarity show that AI agents complete more purchases?
The official documentation reviewed does not substantiate that claim. Microsoft Clarity distinguishes sessions reaching checkout from completed conversions following agent engagement. Those definitions concern conversational Brand agents assisting website visitors, not autonomous agents independently navigating websites. Neither the reported checkout comparison nor a resulting increase in purchases has been verified here.
