- Separately, Google's documented Search conversational experience lets advertisers revise and approve suggestions before launch.
Personal Take, John IliopoulosGetting through campaign creation faster is useful. Getting to the wrong campaign faster is not. A brief that says "get more leads" leaves a lot unresolved, especially when budgets are tight and the sales team needs better enquiries rather than more of them. What interests me about this reported test is whether it helps advertisers explain what they actually want, or simply makes a vague brief look ready to launch.
I like the idea of turning a clear brief into a useful starting point. Google's existing Search conversational experience already generates keywords, assets and ad group suggestions that advertisers can revise and approve before launch. Those controls are documented for that experience, not verified for this experiment. Search Engine Roundtable also reports a "Create campaign manually" alternative, so the story is not evidence that manual creation is being removed.
For me, the brief deserves more attention than how polished the suggested assets look. Which customers are we trying to reach, and what makes an enquiry worth paying for? The business still needs to answer that. AI could save time translating those answers into campaign suggestions, but something that reads well can still make the wrong promise or attract people who are unlikely to buy.
I'd be happy with a setup tool that saves time and produces a stronger first draft. It does not need to be a performance breakthrough to earn its place. But faster setup alone gives me no reason to loosen a CPA target or increase budget. If better results are claimed, I'd follow the traffic and enquiries through analytics tools or advanced CRM reporting to see whether they turn into quality leads and sales. Time saved building the campaign is one benefit. Extra spend still has to earn its keep.
Questions people ask
What is the Google Ads AI campaign goals and assets test?
Search Engine Roundtable reports an experiment where advertisers describe their campaign goal and Google AI suggests goals and assets. The publication attributes confirmation to Ginny Marvin, Google's Ads Liaison. The official sources checked document a related conversational experience, but do not independently confirm this exact workflow.
Can I create a Google Ads campaign manually instead of using AI suggestions?
Google's documented Search campaign setup includes "Create a campaign without a goal’s guidance". The reported experiment separately shows "Create campaign manually". These are different labels, and the documented option does not verify how the experimental alternative works.
Does the Google Ads AI goals test automatically change conversion tracking?
The official sources checked do not confirm that the reported test changes conversion tracking. The report's reference to suggested goals should not be read as evidence of conversion measurement changes or automatic campaign publishing.
