Google Ads reportedly will source website coupons for eligible campaigns from October 12, 2026. Asset reporting starts after impressions, with no advertiser approval step described.

Key Highlights
  • PPC Land reports automatic enrolment from October 12, 2026, citing an advertiser email covered by Search Engine Roundtable.
  • Reported eligibility covers Search and Performance Max with location assets and no existing promotion assets.
  • The notice says automated promotion assets appear in reporting only after receiving impressions.
  • Advertisers can reportedly turn Automated Promotions off through account level automated assets settings.
  • Separate coverage cited by PPC Land says sourced offers require verification again within 24 hours.

Seeing a coupon in the Assets report after somebody has already seen the ad is not approval. That is the bit of Google Ads automated promotions that bothers me, more than Google reading the website. An offer being published on a page does not necessarily mean I want it promoted across every eligible campaign, particularly when the offer has product restrictions or different store availability.

There is a useful idea here. Maintaining promotion assets takes time, and an accurate offer could make an ad more competitive. But checking that a discount still exists is not the same as checking that it makes commercial sense to advertise it. The reported verification window of less than 24 hours also does not establish how quickly an expired or changed offer stops serving. Neither does the article explain who, if anyone, reviews the extracted terms before publication.

A better CVR could make this look successful in Google Ads while the discount leaves less margin after media cost. I'd follow the offer traffic through analytics tools or advanced CRM reporting and judge CPA alongside the value of those purchases, not just the extra conversions. Where promotion approval matters, switching this off and keeping manual promotion assets is the cleaner choice until the review process is clear. The snapshot is truncated and relays other reporting, so checking the actual account notice and available setting comes before assuming the rollout applies.

Questions people ask

which Google Ads campaigns qualify for automated website promotions?

According to the reported notice, eligible Search and Performance Max campaigns must have linked location assets and no existing promotion assets. PPC Land reports automatic enrolment from October 12, 2026, but the supplied snapshot does not independently verify the primary notice.

how do I turn off automated promotions in Google Ads?

The reported instructions say to open account level automated assets settings, find Automated Promotions and select Off. This is an account level control, and the notice does not describe a separate campaign level switch.

can I approve Google Ads automated promotion assets before they show?

The reported notice does not describe an advertiser approval step before automated promotions serve. It says assets become visible in the Assets section after receiving impressions, so that reporting view is not a preview of every extracted offer.
